Reading Memories in the Drizzle

This vignette presents Yu Hua´s novel from 1991 and analyses two different interpretations of the with fifteen years between them written by same prominent critic, Chen Xiaoming. The first interpretation was in 1992 when China early stages economic reform. second 2007 deep-going social changes had affected life individual. By comparing these essays, I aim to show how a literary text may act as catalyst for bringing out existential issues at stake particular point time.
